Wrapped Entities
This exhibition is a merge of organic and non-organic objects and explores that duality.
One possibility, among many others, for the unification of matter, for symbiosis between life and non-life.
According to Timothy Morton’s philosophy, massive entities like global warming are pushing us towards this understanding, as they are slowly changing our usual pattern. Anthropocentrism is shaken from the ground because existence is only coexistence with other forms of life.
Exploring ways to talk about this life forms and ecological beings on a large scale has become a priority.
Considering that what do nuclear materials, our solar system, or the spread of the corona virus have in common?
They are viscous non-local entities that are massively distributed in time and space. They involve “different temporalities than the human scale ones” and “they exhibit their effects inter-objectively” – they are hyper-objects.
“We coexist with human lifeforms, nonhuman lifeforms and non lifeforms, on the inside of a series of gigantic entities with whom we also coexist: the ecosystem, biosphere, climate, planet, solar system”.
We humans, are caught in algorithmic loops, stuck in massive hyper-objects imposed on us. “We are poems about the hyper-object earth”.
On the other hand, we cannot restrict thought to the human-world correlation due to its finitude. These entities will remain for much longer than any of us. That’s why we need to find other ways to talk about entities. Different visions of capturing their animacy, and that do not reduce things to boring substances for the human subject.
Assume for example, that there are more scales and layers than we suppose, as it seems that the whole is always less than the sum of the parts.
There are multiple entities within a being, there is no end to it, entities are wrapped up in entities.
A very strange situation with more parts than wholes.
